Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ vs. iPhone X: Which Ones Better?
4 Months ago Apple released the iPhone X. Since November 2017 consumers have oohed and awed about the incredible camera, the cool little selfie avatar feature, the screen resolution was like none ever before, for the last 4 months Apple and its iPhone X have enjoyed ‘King of the Mountain’ status but that was then, this is now. Today, March 16th 2018 The First Official day that you can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ as they are due to be released any day; and any day now you will be able to confirm what many already know about the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the S9+ and how it stacks up against Apples mighty X.
So lets look at each of these phones breakdown by breakdown
Apple caused quite a stir last year when they announced that their new phone would start at $999 for their 64 GB version and that price would escalate up to $1,149 for their 256 GB mega storage version.
Samsung has priced their new Galaxy S9 at $719.99 for their comparable 64GB. A savings of $280. Samsung doesn’t sell a 256GB version like Apple does but they do offer an expandable memory slot on their new phone that will allow for up to 400GB of extra storage.
So Samsung wins on price (and Storage).
To be fair, both phones have incredible cameras – especially for a smart phone but alas, one has to be superior to the other – so which one is it?
Apples iPhone X has a 7 Mega Pixel front facing camera that utilizes TruDepth technology. This, as well as two 12-megapixel rear cameras that display dual optical image stabilization. Plus you can shoot in Portrait mode with both the front and the rear cameras. We know, Cool, Right!
However, Samsung’s S9 and S9+ both feature an 8 mega pixel front facing cameras and one 12 megapixel camera on the back of the S9 but the S9+ has two. Neither the S9 or the S9+ have a true portrait mode (ability to blur the background so as to feature whatever you had in focus), but the S9+ does make an attempt to compensate by offering the Live Portrait Feature – though in all honesty it’s not been well reviewed. See what mean Here.
This one runs pretty close to even. Give and take exists in both instances. Just know either phone will give you a top notch photography experience every time – or until the next update comes out.
Winner – Samsung but only because of the scanner and the headphone jack, well and the price too.
This one is hard to call being as the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ just went on sale today and no one has had the opportunity to put them to any sort of real life tests but we do know that the Samsung S9 does have a bigger battery than the iPhone X but that may just be because the iPhone X has Two batteries. Read more about that Here.
All the phones in question have top of the line OLED displays but Samsung’s S9 and their S9+ much better resolution than the iPhone X and it’s not even close. In terms of pixel density and screen resolution Samsung’s new phones sport displays of 2960 x 1440 resolution at 568 ppi (pixels per inch). Whereas, Apple’s iPhone X has a modest screen resolution of 2436 x 1125 at 458 ppi (pixels per inch).
Samsung remains King of the Mountain Here
So Samsung has the better price, the better screen resolution, more storage capacity, and both phones come up even in design and cameras.
